Leitura de “barbie em diagonal”, de Vasco Graça Moura
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the sonnet “barbie em diagonal”, by Vasco Graça Moura, from Uma Carta no Inverno (1997), highlighting its dialogue with canonical sources of the modern lyric. For that, we firstly discuss how the poem can be read in the context of the book, the section “as tentações”, in which the speaker visits nightclubs, meets “barbies” and lascivious women and finds himself confronted by his own desire. We argue that “barbie em diagonal” questions in an exemplary way the relations between poetry and experience by retaking a modern topic par excellence – the topos of the female passerby, which has in a Baudelaire’s sonnet his most remarkable example.
