Autobiography and self-portrait in Adília Lopes: «Reduzir ao absurdo»
Abstract
This article proposes a reflection on certain aspects of autobiographical and self-portraying writing based on the reading of the poems “Autobiografia sumária de Adília Lopes” and “Self-portrait” by Adília Lopes. Alongside the analysis of these poetic texts, this article discusses some of the statements by Philippe Lejeune, Georges Gusdorf and Michel Beaujour on these matters, also considering certain critical texts on the work of Adília Lopes. It is suggested that the poetry of Adília Lopes challenges the autobiographical postulates, although not rejecting them, in a persistent work to “[r]eduzir ao absurdo”.
