This article discusses the song’s approach from the theoretical perspective of intermediality and analyzes the intermedial character of the record Tropicália ou Panis et Circensis (Veloso et alli 1968), taking as cut-outs some of its paratexts and songs. Connections are established between the intermediality practices and the assumptions of Oswald de Andrade’s Anthropophagy integrated to the tropicalist project under the mediation of the critic and poet Augusto de Campos. On the record combination processes incidences, transposition and intermediate reference are observed according to the categorizations proposed by Rajewsky (2012), including an ekphrasis case. Through these examples, the intermedial character of tropicalist creations is evidenced, which at the same time operate in the middle text of the song and relate to other media in a crossing borders process.
